Travel information

Passport and Visas

  • All Egyptian consulates grant entry visa. visas should be valid for at least Three months subsequent to the date of the proposed visit.

  • For issuance of visas, please contact our Embassies abroad or our office for further advice, as there are a lot of nationalities that can apply for visas upon arrival at Cairo international airport.

Currency

  • The Egyptian pound is equal to 100 piaster, our currency has denominations of One pound – 5 – 10 – 20 – 50 and 100 pounds.
    Egyptian currency may not be taken in / out of the country.

Climate

  • Climate is dry year-round. In during winter temperature is sunny by day, cool by night.

Language

  • Official language is Arabic, English and French are widely spoken.

Electric current

  • 220 volt AC. Cycles. Wall plugs are the round two prong European type. American appliances will need adaptor plugs and transformers.

Shopping

  • Leather and Copper goods, Jewels and Alabaster products are sold in Bazaars.

  • Big malls where you find a variety of shops and products are centralized in Cairo.

Domestic travel

  • Egypt air operates daily services between Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simble, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Alexandria.

  • Sleeping trains serve between Cairo and Aswan passing by Luxor.

  • First class seating train serve all destination except Sinai.

  • A/C buses cover all destinations in Egypt.
